Earth Day 2026

The Earth Day 2026 celebration was conducted on 22 April 2026 at the Institute of Agriculture and Research Technology (IART), NMV University, with the objective of creating awareness among students on environmental conservation, sustainable living and the protection of natural resources.

The programme witnessed active participation from students and faculty members and commenced with a welcome address delivered by Ms. M. Kayalvizhi, III B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, who highlighted the significance of Earth Day and the importance of individual responsibility towards protecting the environment.

As part of the celebration, students presented a mime performance on nature and tree conservation, effectively conveying the importance of preserving ecosystems and promoting environmental stewardship. The performance emphasized the need for collective action to protect the planet for future generations.

A special address was delivered by Dr. S. Nagaraj, Department of Soil Science, who shared his experiences on tree planting and emphasized that small individual actions can create a lasting impact on environmental sustainability. His inspiring message encouraged students to actively participate in conservation activities and adopt eco-friendly practices.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. R. Durgadevi, III B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, followed by the National Anthem. The observance reinforced the importance of protecting nature and adopting sustainable practices for the benefit of present and future generations.
