Inaugural Function B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture 2025–2029 Batch

The Institute of Agriculture and Research Technology (IART), NMV University, organized the Inaugural Function for the B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture 2025–2029 Batch on 19 September 2025, marking the beginning of a new academic journey for the first-year undergraduate students. The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the kuthuvilakku, symbolizing wisdom, prosperity and the pursuit of knowledge.

The event was coordinated by Dr. M. Vaidheki, Assistant Professor, Department of Agricultural Statistics, with the support of Assistant Professors from all departments of IART, senior undergraduate students, and postgraduate scholars from the Departments of Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Extension Education.

The programme began with the Welcome Address delivered by Dr. M. Vaidheki, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, students, freshers and their parents to the institution.

The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. K. R. Sundaravaradarajan, Vice Chancellor, NMV University, who highlighted the importance of agricultural education in shaping the future of young professionals and emphasized the growing opportunities in the agricultural sector. He encouraged students to pursue their studies with dedication, passion and commitment towards agriculture and rural development.

The Inaugural Address was delivered by Dr. V. Ragupathy, Emeritus Professor, Gandhigram Rural University and President, Gandhinikethan Ashram, who shared valuable insights on the significance of the Gurukula system of learning and appreciated the ward system practiced at NMV University. He also commended the academic environment and infrastructure of the Institute of Agriculture and Research Technology and conveyed his best wishes to the newly admitted students.

Faculty members from various departments introduced their respective subjects and provided students with an overview of the curriculum and learning opportunities available at the institution. Senior students also shared their experiences and insights, helping the freshers gain confidence and familiarity with campus life.

As part of the inauguration, the freshers were presented with their admission letters along with tree saplings such as Neem and Guava, symbolizing the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability and holistic development.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. T. Ram Sundar, Assistant Professor, Department of Agricultural Extension Education, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, students and parents for contributing to the success of the event. The function concluded with the National Anthem, leaving the freshers inspired and motivated for their academic journey ahead.
