International Forest Day 2025

The International Day of Forests was celebrated on 21 March 2025 at NMV Institute of Agriculture Research & Technology, NMV University, through a Tree Plantation Drive organized by the Department of Agronomy under the guidance of Dr. K. R. Sundaravaradarajan, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, NMV University. The programme was coordinated by Ms. T. Chandralekha, Dr. R. Rajalakshmi, and Ms. K. Priya, who led the plantation of Agathi (Sesbania grandiflora) trees across the campus to promote afforestation and environmental conservation. Dr. R. Rajalakshmi, Assistant Professor, Department of Agronomy, delivered an awareness talk on the importance of forests, biodiversity conservation, climate regulation, sustainable livelihoods and the need for drought-tolerant tree species such as Agathi, Neem, and Palmyra in arid regions. Faculty members and undergraduate students actively participated in the plantation drive, reaffirming their commitment to forest conservation, sustainable development and creating a greener campus environment.
