International Women’s Day 2026
The International Women’s Day 2026 celebration was conducted on 09 March 2026 at the Institute of Agriculture and Research Technology (IART), NMV University, with the objective of promoting awareness on gender equality and recognizing the invaluable contributions of women to society.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. K. R. Sundaravaradarajan, Vice Chancellor, NMV University. The event commenced with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by an introductory address by Dr. T. Ram Sundar, Assistant Professor, Department of Agricultural Extension Education, who highlighted the importance of respecting, supporting and empowering women in all spheres of life.
As part of the programme, Dr. T. Sathyan, Assistant Professor, Department of Entomology, rendered a song celebrating the strength, sacrifices, and unconditional love of women and mothers. Mr. B. Haribalan, Assistant Professor, Department of Agricultural Economics, delivered an informative session on constitutional provisions, legal safeguards and welfare measures aimed at promoting women’s rights and empowerment.
The celebration also featured a song by Mr. V. Gurunath, II Year Undergraduate Student, emphasizing the importance of respecting women and promoting their dignity in society. The programme concluded with the National Anthem, leaving participants inspired to contribute towards a more inclusive and equitable society.
