Leprosy Awareness Programme

NMV University organized a Leprosy Awareness Programme on 18 November 2025 to promote health awareness and educate students about the importance of early detection and treatment of leprosy.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of the Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. K. R. Sundaravaradarajan and featured an awareness session led by health professionals from the public health department.

Participants were educated about the causes, symptoms, transmission, prevention and treatment of leprosy. The session also emphasized that leprosy is a curable disease when diagnosed and treated at an early stage.

The programme helped dispel misconceptions and social stigma associated with the disease while encouraging students to support public health initiatives and community awareness activities.

The event concluded with an interactive session that enhanced students’ understanding of preventive healthcare and their role in creating a healthier society.
