Mental Health and Menstrual Hygiene 2026

The Awareness Programme on Mental Health and Menstrual Hygiene was conducted on 13 March 2026 at the Institute of Agriculture and Research Technology (IART), NMV University, with the objective of promoting awareness on mental well-being, positive thinking, and menstrual hygiene among students.

The programme was organized as part of the awareness initiatives of the Government of Tamil Nadu under the guidance of Dr. K. R. Sundaravaradarajan, Vice Chancellor, NMV University. The resource persons for the programme were Ms. R. Devi, District Resource Person, Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women (TNCDW) – Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission (TNSRLM), Virudhunagar, and Ms. Swathi, Block Resource Person, Block Development Office, Tiruchuli. The session commenced with an introductory address by Dr. T. Ram Sundar, Assistant Professor, Department of Agricultural Extension Education.

During the programme, participants took a pledge emphasizing the importance of maintaining good mental health and developing a positive mindset to face life’s challenges. Ms. R. Devi delivered an interactive session on mental health, highlighting the importance of emotional well-being, healthy personality development, and stress management among students.

The session on Menstrual Hygiene focused on creating awareness regarding menstrual health and hygienic practices while promoting understanding and respect for women’s health among both male and female students. The programme encouraged open discussions and active student participation, making the session informative and meaningful.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. T. Sathyan, Assistant Professor, Department of Entomology, followed by valuable feedback from students on the usefulness of the session.
