The Institute of Agriculture and Research Technology (IART), NMV University celebrated National Farmers Day on 23rd December 2025 at Muthuramalingapuram Village, Aruppukottai, Virudhunagar District.

The programme was organized with the objective of strengthening the connection between the university and the farming community by interacting directly with farmers in their local environment.

The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. K. R. Sundaravaradarajan, Vice Chancellor, NMV University. Farmers were encouraged to utilize the university’s expertise and facilities for addressing agricultural issues and improving farm productivity.

An interactive session was conducted to discuss various agricultural challenges, including pest management in major crops and solutions for crop protection problems faced by farmers. Students also shared information on mushroom cultivation and its income-generation potential.

The programme featured cultural performances by students, including songs, poems, mime and Silambattam, highlighting the importance of agriculture and the contribution of farmers to society.

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem, marking a successful and meaningful Farmers Day celebration.
