To promote democratic values and responsible citizenship among youth, National Voters’ Day 2026 was observed through a series of awareness and cultural activities organized by the Government of Tamil Nadu in association with the Institute of Agriculture and Research Technology (IART), NMV University.
As part of the celebrations, college-level competitions including Essay Writing, Drawing, Tamil Speech and Kolam were conducted on 23 January 2026, providing students with an opportunity to express their views on electoral awareness and the importance of voting.
Students of IART showcased remarkable performances across various events. Prize winners included Ms. A. Santhoshini, Ms. M. Devasri, and Ms. K. Proethika in the Essay Writing Competition; Ms. S. Abirami, Mr. S. Dharsan, and Mr. K. Sathish in Drawing; and Mr. V. Gurunath, Ms. P. Devipriya and Ms. P. Deepadharshini in the Tamil Speech Competition. The Kolam Competition winners included Ms. M. Kayalvizhi, Ms. H. Yamuna, Ms. S. Suvathi, Ms. S. Sruthi, Ms. Ganapathi Sruthi, Ms. S. Abirami, Ms. P. Devipriya, Ms. S. Noothana Sri and Ms. M. Angeline Jency.
The prize-winning students subsequently represented the institution at the Taluk-level National Voters’ Day celebrations held on 25 January 2026, where they actively participated in awareness programmes emphasizing voting rights, electoral participation, and democratic responsibility. Notably, Ms. S. Abirami, II B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, secured recognition at the Collectorate level for her outstanding performance.
The programme served as a meaningful platform to encourage youth participation in the democratic process and reinforced the importance of informed and responsible voting in strengthening the nation’s electoral system.
