We had an incredible experience as students of IART, NMV University, during our visit to the prestigious Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Kovilankulam on June 29, 2023. This practical excursion was part of our AEX 102 – Agricultural Extension Education course, where we delved into the world of agriculture and expanded our knowledge.

At KVK, we explored various aspects of agricultural practices and gained valuable insights into animal husbandry, vermicomposting techniques, Azolla cultivation, and more. The experts at KVK shared their extensive knowledge through practical demonstrations, enabling us to understand the real-world applications of our classroom learning.

Witnessing the meticulous care given to livestock in the animal husbandry section emphasized sustainable practices and efficient resource utilization. The vermicomposting process showcased the power of earthworms in converting organic waste into nutrient-rich compost, promoting eco-friendly practices.

Moreover, the cultivation of Azolla highlighted its role in enhancing soil fertility and contributing to sustainable agriculture. This visit broadened our horizons and introduced us to innovative agricultural practices for a more food-secure future.

We express our gratitude to our professors and the KVK staff for organizing this insightful trip, bridging the gap between theory and practice in agriculture. The knowledge and experiences gained during our visit will shape our perspectives and inspire us to make a positive impact in the agricultural sector.
