Agronomy

Our faculty are involved with conducting cutting edge research in the field of crop production, including crop management, cultivation practices, and the use of fertilizers, pesticides, and other inputs. With a field practice area of over 100 acres, the faculty provide consultancy to farmers and industry in the latest techniques and technologies for maximizing crop yields and ensuring food security.

Soil Science

The study of soil is critical for understanding how to optimize crop growth and improve soil health. The department focuses on the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soil, and provides students with a deep understanding of how to analyze and manage soil resources for sustainable agricultural practices.

Genetics

Focuses on the study of plant genetics, genomics, and breeding. Students learn how to develop new plant varieties with improved traits, such as disease resistance, yield, and nutritional value. They also learn about the latest techniques and tools for genetic manipulation, including gene editing and genetic engineering.

Entomology

Insects and other arthropods can be both beneficial and harmful to agriculture. The department focuses on the study of insects, their biology, behavior, and ecology, as well as their interactions with plants. Students learn about the role of insects in pollination and pest control, and how to develop integrated pest management strategies that balance the benefits and risks of insect populations.

Pathology

Plant diseases can have a devastating impact on crop yields and quality. Focuses on the study of plant diseases, their causes, and their management. Students learn how to identify and diagnose plant diseases, develop effective disease management strategies, and conduct research on new approaches for disease control.

Economics

The agricultural industry is complex and dynamic, and requires a deep understanding of economic principles to be successful. This department focuses on the economic aspects of agriculture, including the production, distribution, and consumption of agricultural goods and services. Students learn how to analyze market trends, develop business plans, and make informed decisions based on economic principles.

Agriculture Extension

Our team is dedicated to improving agricultural productivity and promoting sustainable farming practices among farmers and rural communities. Through research, training, and outreach programs, students learn how to communicate with farmers, develop effective extension strategies, and promote sustainable agricultural practices.

Horticulture

Horticulture is the study of fruit, vegetable, and ornamental plant production. Students gain expertise in plant physiology, plant breeding, and post-harvest management techniques.
